Alpha Students Amaze at Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Regionals
The 2018 Regional Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) competition was held on Saturday February 3 at Duquesne University. Eleven students earned First Place Awards and go on to Penn State in April. Four students earned Second Place Awards.
In addition, the following special awards were earned by Alpha students:
Mia Lowry: Director's Award for Earth and Space category
Andrew Pritchard: Director's Award for Engineering
Gina Palladino: 1. Pittsburgh Section of the American Chemical Society 2018 Award for Excellence in Chemistry and Biochemistry and 2. Duquesne University Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences Dr. Theodore J. Weismann Award for Outstanding Achievement in Chemistry and Biochemistry(plaque and $50)
Sofia Mancing: Won an award for her speech and from the Pittsburgh Section of the American Chemical Society 2018 Award for Excellence American Chemical Society for Chemistry and Biochemistry.
